Abstract
Excystation, as applied to the coccidia, is the mechanism by which sporozoites are released from sporocysts and oocysts. This process has been investigated both in vivo and in vitro, in poultry, rabbits, and sheep. Some work has been done with bovine coccidia, but excystation in vitro has not been reported.
