Support Learning Through Competency-Based Assignments
Start Date

Description
In traditional education, students usually submit an assignment, receive a grade, and move on, regardless of whether or not they learned the content. This model often results in a focus on "checking-the-box" and "getting a grade" rather than learning - for teachers and students alike. Suppose students were allowed, or even required, to revise assignments until they demonstrate mastery of the required skill? This session will explore how to incorporate competency-based grading in a lock-step course. The ideas covered in this session can be used to support learning and engage students in almost any content.
