Description

After reading and discussing Contemplative Practices in Higher Education (Barbezat & Bush, 2014), members of an ETE Learning Circle were surprised to learn that some of the things they're already doing in the classroom fall under the rubric of contemplative practice. They now understand better how contemplative practices can have powerful effects in classroom instruction. After a brief introduction of the main concepts of the book, they will each share their favorite contemplative practice for a college classroom and how they have implemented it in their instruction. Examples include mindfulness exercises, walking meditation, intentional silence, close reading, reflection prompts, and more.
