Abstract
After having been studied for many years by the Intermountain Herbarium staff, the Intermountain Region is now recognized as a natural floristic unit. The floristic boundaries as determined by the Intermountain Herbarium staff are indicated on the map on page 3. This area includes all of Utah, the Red Desert of southwestern Wyoming, the Snake River plains of the Columbia Plateau Province which lie south of the high mountains in southern Idaho, the sagebrush area of southeastern Oregon, the portions of California that are included within the Great Basin, most of Nevada north of the Charleston Mountain range, and the portion of Arizona that is located north of the Grand Canyon which is part of the Colorado Plateau Province.
