Abstract
I've created instructional YouTube videos focusing on Intercultural Communication. My goal was to make academic material/learning accessible to the general public. I have completed the background research, the script writing and editing, the filming and video editing, and it has been a learning curve. However, I’ve been able to translate academic information in such a way that more people can understand it and learn from it. As people watch these academic videos, they will not only learn facts and terms about intercultural communication, but more importantly they will learn how to be more understanding people. They will learn to be less quick to judge, but quicker to wonder why they think and act the way that they do. These videos make research available to people. They allow for academic learning to happen, despite the inaccessibility of academic work. Though there are videos that already exist about intercultural information, they either lack academic support or are full of academic jargon. Both of which can have negative impacts on viewers. If people seek out information about intercultural communication, and they first come across a video of a professor using jargon that they don’t understand, they may get discouraged and give up. Or they may seek simpler videos that have information that is incorrect. The videos I have created are filling the gap in instructional videos about intercultural communication.
