Description

In Voices and Visions, Dr. Martinez-Cola will provide participants a look back to the many Black lives upon which a movement like Black Lives Matter was built. Throughout history, Black men, women and children have made tremendous sacrifices in the name of justice. In this speech, we remember their names, lives, and words. They serve as reminders that the injustices of today are built upon a scaffolding of systemic racism created over time. Ultimately, Dr. Martinez-Cola encourages us to recognize that we find ourselves in this monumental civil rights movement because Black lives should have always mattered throughout history.
