Abstract

This article employs a qualitative method to facilitate the expression of 16 Native American elders about their feelings about aging and death. They discussed resentments, acceptance of their life experiences, the inevitability of death, participation in the natural re-cycling of nature, and hopes they had for Native Americans in future generations. Throughout the study, theoretical and empirical findings in the field of psychology and Native American literature are cited to help interpret the participants’ remarks. An extended clinical implications section may be helpful to practitioners.
