    The Collegium Musicum at the Caine College of the Arts embodies a project-based approach to the performance of pre-1750 music, which enriches the intellectual and performative life of the students involved, while making accessible to Utah audiences exciting and enriching performances of works from this period of music history. Born of a successful student project, the Collegium Musicum was inaugurated as a USU course offering in the spring semester of 2013 team taught by Dr. Christopher Scheer, Rebecca McFaul and Robert Waters.

    Founded in 1963 by Dr. Max Foreman Dalby, the Utah State University Summer Alumni Band, made up of talented and dedicated alumni from USU’s Music Department, has entertained generations of audience members on the beautiful USU campus for fifty consecutive years. Alumni Band Music Director Nicholas Morrison and the Caine College of the Arts are very pleased to welcome Col. Arnald D. Gabriel, longtime American Bandmasters Association colleague of Dr. Dalby, to conduct tonight’s very special 50th Anniversary celebration.

Logan Canyon Winds, now in its 21st season as USU’s faculty wind quintet, is a shining example of this tradition. One of the hallmarks of a Utah State University education is the community of learners—students, citizens, and faculty—that comes together in pursuit of excellence.
