Abstract
Chinese, German, French, Spanish or Portuguese. Which language would you prefer to gift your child? This paper aims to demonstrate the roles of the individuals whom throughout history have developed Dual Language Immersion (DLI) in Utah, and have come together to make this lifelong gift of a second language possible. It explores the characteristics and parameters that make the Utah DLI model unique, seeing it is implemented in other states and designed to meet all its learners' needs. It also addresses the support that exists for schools participating in Utah's DLI program and its quest for the three Bi-s.
