Abstract
The Weddell Sea Anomaly refers to a recurrent feature of the summertime Southern Hemisphere mid-latitude to high-latitude ionosphere, where electron densities have been observed to maximize around the Weddell Sea Region (which is about 50°S latitude and 95°W longitude) during the night, rather than during the day as would be expected.
