Abstract

Global impacts of LEED certified hotels Presented by: Baileigh Petty Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) has increased interest among businesses and homeowners all over the world. It is a global, regional, and local green building rating system of the features, design, construction, maintenance, operation, and effectiveness of a green building. LEED in the hotel industry has become especially popular because of the benefits it has to offer. There’s a great amount of opportunities to conserve resources and help improve the environment while saving money by the way the building is built and operated. Since hotels are operated 24 hours a day and are constantly using resources, this creates the perfect opportunity for the building to become a green building. I created and designed a hotel that is a LEED green building to reflect the positive environmental impacts and growing trend in green buildings.
