Abstract

This project was to study the solar prominences of the sun, using an 8” Celestron telescope, camera, H alpha filter, and a solar filter, at different times of the day the telescope would be set up and the sun would be photographed with the camera. With the CCD screen on the camera and the H alpha filter would document the spectral lines for later review. The data was then reviewed to see what part of the sun’s spectrum was lost due to the air quality.
