Abstract
Religious communities are an area of intricate belief systems, varying degrees of devotion, and often controversial issues. Because of this, religious communities are often heavily stereotyped by the general public while not much work is done into looking at the belief system variations on a personal level. I am looking into potential conflicts between personal beliefs and religious orientation in young adults, and to what degree that conflict exists. I am focusing primarily on the young adult population in Logan Utah, who are currently pursuing formal post-secondary education at Utah State University, and I am examining the issue of queer existence and queer rights. I am researching what religious young adults think about these issues versus what they understand the position of their religious organization to be. Due to the density of individuals who are members of the LDS faith in the study population, I will be able to get an especially close look at this phenomenon in LDS young adults. This research is being conducted via online survey. Presentation Time: Thursday, 2-3 p.m. Zoom link: https://usu-edu.zoom.us/j/88063585042?pwd=U0NVaHJkRTMzeTVwbERQMk81ZCtQUT09
