Abstract
Marketing for non-profits is an extremely important task for an organization to function well, and social media, in the last decade, has become an important tool for marketing. Through work with the Clinical & Social Work Association (CSWA), it was realized that there is very little information on how to effectively market non-profit organizations such as CSWA to social workers and social work students. There is also little information on how to increase engagement with social workers through social media. We conducted our research using a logic branching mixed methods Qualtrics survey, targeting social workers (licensed or unlicensed) and social work students (MSW, BSW, DSW and PhD), and was meant to give us insight into our research question: What is the most effective way to increase engagement from MSW students and Clinical Social Workers through marketing and social media? We survey 137 people 81% were graduated with a social work degree and 18% were still students in a social work program. We found that from those surveyed that 95% would be likely to join a social work organization, word of mouth is the most effective marketing technique, the second most effective was participating/hosting conferences, and we also found that Facebook and Instagram are the most heavily used social media platforms. This information can help social work organizations, like CSWA, to more effectively market their services and increase their engagement.
