Abstract
- Ceanothus velutinus (snowbrush ceanothus) is a nitrogen-fixing species native to North America.
- It helps improve soil fertility through nodulation, a symbiotic process with bacteria that fix atmospheric nitrogen.
- It is valued for its drought tolerance, ability to enrich soil with nitrogen, and vibrant flowers (Fig. 1).
- However, limited research has been conducted to develop C. velutinus as a specialty crop for sustainable green industry production and understand its nodulation with native Frankia bacteria.
