Abstract
In the US, millions of people are affected by mental health issues every year. It was reported by the Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality that in 2022, 23.1% of adults ages 18 or older had any mental illness. It is reported that anxiety disorders are some of the most commonly diagnosed mental health conditions affecting 42.5 million adults in the US. As the stigma of mental health illness and receiving treatment has decreased, the number of individuals seeking professional help has increased. From 2019 to 2021 the percentage of adults ages 18 and up seeking help went from 19.2% to 21.6%. Given this increase in acceptance, the environments where mental health services are delivered play a pivotal role in fostering healing, growth, and support for individuals navigating mental health challenges. It is crucial for these spaces to be carefully designed and curated to facilitate therapeutic processes effectively. Such spaces should prioritize creating a sense of safety, comfort, and confidentiality, allowing individuals to feel secure in expressing themselves and engaging in treatment.
