Abstract
Research shows that integrating computer science (CS) into other disciplines leads to more equitable participation for all students.
Connecting CS learning to students’ families, communities, and interests leads to increased student engagement.
We designed a middle school social studies unit that integrated CS to teach about why treaties still matter through the lens of food sovereignty.
