Abstract
Modern theory and modeling indicate vertically propagating Gravity Waves (GWs), waves generated primarily by severe weather disturbances, have profound effects on the variability and mean state of the Ionosphere-Thermosphere-Mesosphere (ITM) system, and can significantly impact space-based communications, navigation, and tracking.
