Abstract
A Phase A study for the ARIES space-based hyperspectraI remote measurement program has been undertaken by the ARIES consortium of AUSPACE Limited, The Australian Centre for Remote Sensing (ACRES) and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation Division of Exploration and Mining (CSIRO DEM). AUSPACE has undertaken the space segment study, ACRES the ground segment design, and the CSIRO has undertaken overall project management for the study, market analysis and algorithm development. The paper describes the outcome of the study including space segment design and algorithm development, and the planned mission. A description of another Australian satellite program, FEDSAT-1, and its links to the ARIES program, is included.
