Session
Technical Session I: Mission Payloads and their Applications
Abstract
This paper introduces a new small SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) satellite that follows the small optical sensor satellite, ASNARO. USEF, NEDO and NEC are developing ASNARO satellite, which is a small LEO satellite (total mass< 500kg) with the high resolution (GSD < 0.5m) optical earth observation sensor. For the next mission, NEC has started the development of a new small SAR satellite as one of small earth observation satellite series using our small standard bus. This small SAR satellite has the following features, i.e. high resolution of less than 1m, X-band sensor frequency and satellite mass of less than 500kg. The trial manufacturing of key technologies for SAR, such as a wide band signal generator / processor and an electronic power conditioner for a high power amplifier, has been developed and examined.
