Abstract

We report an overview of the Te Pūnaha Ātea -1 (TPA-1) 3U CubeSat and its payloads, which is manifested for an upcoming launch. Within the context of the New Zealand space sector, the mission is aimed at developing and validating capability in mission delivery and operations through in-house processes and infrastructure. The mission includes four payloads comprising: a deployable/stowable inspection boom, an integrated Raspberry Pi based Earth observation and deployables imager, thermal monitoring payload and miniaturised dragsail for end-of-life disposal. The first mission by Te Pūnaha Ātea - Space Institute represents an important step along the path to becoming the hub for future aerospace activities in New Zealand.
