Abstract

This work presents a passive actuation approach for internally stored fins equipped with a phase change material (PCM), enabling a dynamic response to waste heat loads and environmental conditions. The fins can achieve semi-deployed or fully deployed positions. The radiator system absorbs heat from the CubeSat and rejects it into the environment. Modeling progress in Thermal Desktop is presented, with emphasis on lessons learned from transient actuation simulations and PCM performance.
