Description
This work discusses design and implementation of a long-range acoustic simulation code for non-Earth atmospheres. Simulation properties can include terrain geometry and acoustic impedance as well as atmospheric properties such as attenuation or background wind. Unique interference mode changes are introduced from variations in sound phase speed. Limitations of realistic frequency ranges are present from variability in phase speed due to vibrational relaxation. Current package can simulate broad band sound at frequencies below relaxation over long distances. This frequency range includes sounds commonly related to turbulent noise generation in preparation for future work.
