Abstract
Researching [faculty salaries] opens up questions like why engineer professors make more than sociology professors. It also opens up the everlasting question of why men generally make more money than women. Is it because women choose less earning careers? Or are they discriminated against because they are women? Using available data helps to actually know the facts so you can research further. It gives you a starting point to open up many other questions in those areas.
