Informant
Alexandre Magre
Point of Discovery/Informant Bio
Alex Magré is a friend I met this last summer (2017) while working for the same summer camp. His family is originally from France, but he has only lived there 1 year when he was 13, growing up in Draper, Utah. He is attending Utah State University studying as a Psychology. The two of us get along pretty well and take the class Introduction to Sociology together.
Context
Alex and I have a class together and sit by each other regularly. We were talking about school assignments, and when he heard I was collecting jokes, he wanted to contribute. He heard the joke from his older brother when he was a teenager.
Text
When the Boogeyman goes to sleep at night, he checks under his bed for Chuck Norris.
Texture
Alex told me this joke right before class started. There were a lot of other conversations happening, so he leaned in close to me to ensure that I could hear and record it. He didn’t laugh or smile, and didn’t seem to expect me to laugh. He didn’t seem to think it was actually funny, but thought I would enjoy it.
