Abstract
Passion, dedication, and persistence are essential character traits for leading conservation efforts in the face of a daunting and ever-growing list of threats to biodiversity (and sometimes to conservationists themselves). Our friend, colleague, and collaborator Navjot S. Sodhi had these in abundance and Conservation Biology: Voices from the Tropics is the perfect symbol of his legacy. Navjot was a devoted and accomplished conservationist who led a globally influential, productive, and inspiring career before his unexpected and heart-breaking passing in 2011 [1]. Besides being a conservation scientist of global caliber, Navjot also cared deeply about building capacity in the tropics and giving voice to those who lived there [2].
