ISIS-1 and 2 Observations of the Plasmasphere-Plasma Sheet-Outer Zone Interface

Location

Yosemite National Park

Start Date

2-8-1974 2:30 PM

End Date

2-8-1974 2:45 PM

Description

Data from the soft particle spectrometer, topside sounder, auroral scanning photometer, ion mass spectrometer, and Langmuir probe on board ISIS-1 and 2 will be used to delineate the low altitude plasma sheet and its relation to the low altitude trough and "plasmapause". Specific examples of this relationship for various magnetic conditions will be shown. The "pictures" from the auroral scanner will then be used to extrapolate in longitude.
