Abstract

A UCEDD writer's reflections on years of interviewing people with disabilities, service providers and researchers. The stories are profound, often because the service gaps bridged by the UCEDD are so great.

Plain Language Summary

The problems in the lives of people with disabilities are often large, and they have many causes. The solutions to those problems are not likely to happen without help from the government. The solutions will also likely need to come from a lot of different approaches, from changing laws to training workers to making better technology. University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities work on all those solutions.
