Abstract
The flight activity of the bees, Megachile nana Bingh and Megachile flavipes Spinola on alfalfa, Medicago satica L. flowers started only when a minimum threshold of environmental factors was surpassed while cessation was controlled mainly by fast decline in values of light intensity and solar radiation. Bee abundance correlated positively with air temperature, light intensity, solar radiation, nectar-sugar concentration and negatively with relative humidity. Path coefficient analysis revealed that the direct effect of solar radiation on M. nana and solar radiation and light intensity on M. flavies was pronounced, while the direct effects of other factors were negative or negligible.
