Abstract
Pollen is an important biotic component of the environment which makes a vital constituent in tile reproductive success of the plants. The importance of pollen as a sole source of protein and lipid for 13gg maturation and larvae development of bees was demonstrated by several investigators (Haydak, 1935; 1937; Bisht & Nairn, 1968; Eckert, 1942; Rashad, 1957). Besides, pollen also serves as food for adult bees. The weight of pollen load that a worker bee can carry per trip and its relation to body weight have been reported for honeybees (Bisht & Pant, 1968; Cherian et al 1946; Dhaliwal, 1970; Nairn & Bisht 1979; Percival 1950; Punjabi, et al 1969). The amount of pollen load collected is directly related to the brood rearing/colony growth and pollination efficiency. The present paper reports the pollen load and pollination efficiency of some bees.
