Abstract
At Drayton Manor (the Ministry of Agriculture Experimental Husbandry Farm) Stratford-on-Avon, field beans are being grown (1957) with several objects in view, one of these being the behaviour of the honey bee and its influence on the bean crop. Some 14 acres of beans -7 of winter and 7 of spring sown beans – are being studied, and the actions of the bees have been kept under observation by the County Beekeeping Instructor throughout the flowering period, i.e. the latter part of April when the winter beans were just coming into flower until the first week of July when the spring beans had finished flowering.
