Abstract
Females of Cerceris amipodes nest communally in stable small groups. On any one day there is a rudimentary division of labor with usually only one active provisioner; the other females remain within the burrow and some guard the nest against intruders. The communal nesting behavior of C. antipodes is compared with that of other species of Cerceris.
