Abstract
Since 1909, thanks to the kindness of A. I. and M. N. Cherski, and also of N. P. Krilov and several other persons, I have been receiving every year greater or lesser quantities of bumblebees from the Maritime province. During the five years the relatively small entomological collection accumulated this significant material to such an extent that the investigations that followed on the total material acquired gave an advance characterization of the local bumblebee fauna. A circumstance favorable to this purpose is the fact that the investigations of the naturalists there have been localized in the southern part of the Maritime province up to the present time, thus making for completeness in the account of the entire region. Since the preceding year (1913) it may become possible to realize the proposed plans to the above or a higher degree, some (favorable) upturn in the matter of fauna investigation in the Maritime Province should occur. I personally wish the enterprise complete success, moved principally by the present necessity of clearing up the northern and the western boundaries of ths zoo-geographical province, with its brightness of characteristics, which, with regard to bumblebees, already stand out in relief, and which province we have provisionally named the Manchurian.
