Abstract

Raising leaf cutting bees is a popular hobby and a source of extra income for many people. It is an exciting activity for anyone interested in watching insects grow, and it can be profitable for those who will care for and manage the bees properly. Nearly half a million dollars worth of bees are produced and sold in Idaho by part-time leafcutter producers each year. These bees are important to the alfalfa seed industry in the Northwest.
