Abstract

ln the present paper the size (by volume) of the rectal glands and the total length of the Malpighian tubules from bees of the genus Melipona were analyzed in relation to the environmental humidity. It was assumed that bees from dry environments must have larger rectal glands and longer Malpighian tubules. The analysis of the variance showed that differences do not exist among the studied bees at least not as expected.
