Description

Because university courses are designed for short-term mastery of their own content, college students suffer a fractured and temporary learning experience. This presentation introduces The Seven-Year Deal, a unique teaching model that, rather than attempting to reform the system or prescribe classroom strategies, champions deep learning – learning that has lasting value beyond the scattershot of final exams. Based on current pedagogical research and decades of corporate and university experience, this model proposes a set of guiding principles that can transform student learning into an enduring experience. Those who attend this discussion will not only become familiar with principles of The Seven-Year Deal and the rationale behind it, but will also walk away having taken the first steps in strategizing how to personally make use of the model and deepen student learning in their own classrooms.
