Non-Traditional Teaching Opportunities: Lessons to Take to the Classrooms
Start Date

Description
Non-traditional teaching opportunities such as coaching provide valuable lessons in pedagogy. When coaching, succeeding in the game is the focus of every practice and drill. Players are explicitly told how practicing drills fit into success on the field, social interaction is a valuable tool for building skill, and players with different strengths and backgrounds practice the same way they will play. This practice of building lessons around the assessment, meeting students where they are and creating lessons based on instructor to peer and peer to peer interactions is a classroom structure we can utilize to increase student engagement and learning.
