Exploring the Potential of Digital Tools and Resources for College Teaching
Start Date
8-18-2020 12:00 AM
Description
In this session, participants will learn about several ways to utilize an art museum's resources with the use of technology to enhance students' learning in college classrooms. First, we will explain how we used video-recorded students' presentations about their cultural and personal connections to works of art at the museum to create an online depository of example students' presentations. Second language learners participated in this pilot study and we hope this collection can be expanded to include other student populations, thus reflecting the conference theme of inclusive pedagogy. Second, we will discuss how the same art museum is collecting digitized lesson plans to inform the university's faculty of the possibilities that a combination of technology and art museums offer as resources and tools for teaching. We will end by inviting the participants to brainstorm other possible connections that they, as faculty, can make to the art museum.
