Description
Utah State University’s Connections first year experience course encourages students to think beyond their grades and degree, and instead maximize their college experience by gaining a broad skill set that supports their goals, building relationships, developing ethics, and ultimately becoming learners who are prepared to solve real-world problems in an ever-evolving landscape. Though the Connections first year experience course helps prime students’ mindset, we will discuss strategies instructors can implement throughout a student’s academic journey to continue to grow that mindset. We will also share examples we use when designing our courses and assignments that further support students in becoming learners. Attendees will collaborate with others to evaluate current teaching activities and refine to optimally support students becoming learners.
