Description
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping higher education, challenging traditional ideas about teaching, learning, and even thinking itself. Over the Spring 2025 semester, a group of USU instructors participated in a Learning Circle to engage with Teaching with AI: A Practical Guide to a New Era of Human Learning by José Antonio Bowen and C. Edward Watson. In this session, we will share insights from the book and our Learning Circle discussions to help educators thoughtfully and practically integrate AI into their teaching.
The presentation will be organized around the book’s core themes: Thinking with AI, which explores how AI is transforming creativity, problem-solving, and cognitive processes; Teaching with AI, which focuses on designing courses and assessments in an AI-pervasive environment; and Learning with AI, which considers how AI tools can personalize learning and support student success. Presenters will summarize each section’s key takeaways and offer practical strategies for instructors to navigate ethical considerations, design AI-resilient assignments, and foster responsible AI use among students. Attendees will leave with actionable ideas and a clearer understanding of how AI can be a partner rather than a disruption in higher education.
