Description
The Aggie Ventures Initiative is a new effort at Utah State University designed to help faculty create meaningful, cross-campus collaborations. Whether it’s adding a small interdisciplinary project to a course or launching a new academic program, Aggie Ventures will simplify the process of finding the right partners and turning ideas into action.
This presentation explores the barriers that often prevent collaboration in higher education—such as departmental silos, duplicated efforts, and a lack of visibility—and introduces a new model that makes it easier for faculty to build connections and bring their ideas to life. Drawing on lessons from the Sandbox program, which united students and faculty from multiple disciplines to create real startup experiences, the talk will demonstrate how similar collaborative approaches can be applied in a wide range of academic contexts.
Aggie Ventures isn’t about prescribing a specific path—it’s about meeting faculty where they are and helping them explore what’s possible. Whether someone has a rough idea, a specific goal, or simply an interest in collaboration, the initiative will help remove the burden of figuring out who to talk to, what’s already happening, and how to get started. From small classroom projects to larger interdisciplinary programs, Aggie Ventures offers support at every stage.
Attendees will learn how the Aggie Ventures Initiative will actively support their efforts—making it easier to find collaborators, launch ideas, and build projects that offer real-world impact for students and faculty alike.
