Description
Inspired by the well-known Cards Against Humanity (and adapted under a Creative Commons license), Cards Against Pedagogy encourages educators to think deeply about their teaching decisions, share practical insights, and learn from one another in a supportive environment. In “Dealing Out Reflection: A Cards Against Pedagogy Workshop,” we’ll explore how this creative card game can foster insight, build community, and support professional growth, particularly around issues related to the theme of "Beyond the Grade."
During this workshop, you will have the opportunity to play through several rounds of the game, which combines humorous prompts with thought-provoking questions about pedagogy, classroom management, and student engagement. After each round, participants engage in reflective discussion, revealing fresh perspectives on familiar teaching challenges, and challenging themselves to move toward continuous, authentic, creative, and/or formative assessment and mentoring opportunities.
Whether you’re a seasoned educator or new to teaching, this workshop offers a playful yet meaningful way to exchange ideas and broaden your pedagogical repertoire. Come prepared to share a laugh and walk away inspired to transform your teaching practice!
