Description

Creating an inclusive, welcoming environment benefits every student—not just those with disabilities. In this session, the Disability Resource Center (DRC) and Digital Accessibility Services (DAS) teams will show how small changes can remove barriers for your students, and how faculty and staff can play a vital role in increasing accessibility at USU.

We'll explore what disability and accessibility mean, who benefits from accessible practices, and why building inclusive environments matters. You'll also learn practical ways to create accessible content across Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and Canvas, using strategies like headings, alt text, captions, and clear formatting. Finally, we’ll clarify what accommodations are and how to connect students with the DRC for additional support.

By making accessibility part of your everyday work, you help all students succeed—and strengthen the USU learning experience for everyone.
