Point of Discovery/Informant Bio
Suzanne Brewster is my Mother. She was born in Northam, Western Australia. She is a bank manager and an awesome Mum! She played a lot of sport growing up, being from the country sport was basically all there was to do. She is the oldest of three kids, she has two younger brothers.
Context
I asked my mum about any superstitions she had when she was growing up playing basketball. I asked her over the phone because she lives in Australia. Her superstition would take place during games, with team mates and spectators around but it isn't a very noticeable superstition.
Text
"I used to drink flat coke during the games and at half time, it started out as just a way
of having a quick energy burst without the bubbles making feel sick but uhhh --- I
guess it got to the point where I had to have one every game or else I wouldn't feel
right hah, probably wasn't very good for me but I liked to think it worked."
Texture
Suzanne sounded like she thought her superstition was a little funny and she looked back not knowing what she was thinking. She was very straight forward and remembered quite clearly what she used to do.
