Point of Discovery/Informant Bio
Taylor Lee is one of my best friends from high school, she attended Rowville Secondary College. Taylor is 21 years old, she currently works for her Dad who runs a building company, she also coaches basketball at Rowville S.C. Taylor plays basketball in the South East Australian Basketball League for Kilsyth Cobras.
Context
I collected this piece of folklore while in Logan, UT. I interviewed Taylor over Facebook Messenger, because of the time different between Logan, Utah and Melbourne, Australia, social media is the best way to communicate. Taylor's superstition happens when she's playing a basketball game mostly. Sometimes it happens in every day life. It does not need to be shared with anyone else or need to include anyone else.
Text
"One superstition I have is that when I play, and sometimes when I'm at the gym or
at training, the colour of my socks must fit the colour of my shoes... I don't know
why, I think it just looks better and I feel better when I'm playing. If they don't match
it just doesn't feel right! Some people might think it's weird, some think I'm being
picky but I get anxious sometimes hahah I know"
"Silly, but oh well"
Texture
Taylor's response was pretty typical of what responses I usually get over social media. She elaborated on her response which was nice. Sometimes it's easy to be blunt over text. She used "haha" which seemed to be more of a nervous laugh.
