Description
Compassion, which literally means "suffer with", is imperative if we wish to support students learning in challenging times. For many students, most days are challenging times as they face anxiety and depression, relationship struggles, identity development, and food insecurity. Students' daily challenges outside our classrooms influence their ability to focus and manage their time, thus affecting their academic performance. Compassionate instructors implement specific practices to help all students achieve the learning outcomes. In this session, I will share 10 compassionate practices that promote an inclusive, supportive learning environment where students can achieve success whether online or in the classroom.
