Description
"The number one thing that an instructor can do to ensure that their students are successful in an online class is structure." This is the quote, from a module in a 25-week ACUE (Association of College and University Educators) course on effective online teaching practices, that made me stop in the middle of a workout on my home treadmill. In this session, we will talk more about why I was on a treadmill in the first place and what I discovered about my own learning tendencies and those of my students. We will also discuss similarities between effective physical training and effective teaching and explore how structure, modules, micro-lectures, and visuals can enhance a student's learning experience especially when they feel pressure to multi-task.
